ABOUT US:

God led us to Tanzania through a commitment our home church made to the Free Church team and the Wazaramo people in the 1990’s. Tony and Holly both served on short-term teams to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. After several years of working for LifeWind International (formerly Medical Ambassadors International) we were asked to move to Africa, and chose Tanzania as our home base. We lived in Arusha, Tanzania from June 2006 until April 2008.

God has specifically gifted and prepared us through our work, training, and life experiences.  Tony ran a business as a general contractor, often devising creative solutions to complicated construction problems. He has applied those skills to develop unique solutions to common problems plaguing residents of developing countries. Such problems include unclean water sources, lack of sanitation facilities such as toilets, high wood usage for cooking fuel, etc.

Holly was trained as a nurse and worked for many years in maternal/child care and teaching patient education classes. She is a certified public health nurse and utilized her experience to develop maternal/child and then HIV&AIDS curriculum for LifeWind International.

Both Tony and Holly were trained as facilitators of the Community Health Evangelism (CHE)strategy and conducted training in their specialties using CHE techniques and materials.  In 2002 we moved with our family to Tanzania to work as practitioners and coordinators for CHE programs in Tanzania. We are closely involved in training a Maasai organization that desires to reach their own people with development and evangelism. We have been utilizing our specialty training to incorporate such things as bucket filters for cleaning water for drinking and the development of educational HIV education materials specifically directed toward Maasai people.

We have been blessed by two great kids, Lauren (15) and Devin (13). They are in high school and junior high. In Tanzania, Devin was homeschooled by our niece, Amber. Lauren went to the International School in Arusha for one year and was homeschooled the next. When we return to Tanzania, we plan to enroll the kids in Haven of Peace Academy in Dar es Salaam.  It will be a true blessing to have the kids attend  a Christian school with teachers that we know!  We hope to live nearby so they have a short ride to school each day.

Lauren's interests- Leading worship, piano, singing, reading Karen Kingsbury books, photography, and being with friends.

Devin's interests- Lego Technics, robotics, building tree forts, and wearing Maasai clothes.
